Anxiety seems so normal!  Can I really learn to live without it?

You are right, everyone seems to have some kind of relationship with anxiety.  We are taught  there is no solution, only management strategies to deal with anxiety.  However, if you consistently apply the LAF technique your brain learns to approach problems and unpleasant circumstances without activating anxiety.

Why aren't relaxation techniques, medication and good advice enough to get rid of anxiety?  

All of those are good things, unfortunately they just manage anxiety, they don't get rid of it. You can get yourself really calm, then the next stressor comes along and the anxiety is back.  So it is good to learn ways to deactivate anxiety so your brain learns it is optional.

What will I be able to do after reading this book and applying the LAF technique?  

You will understand anxiety - what it is, how it has evolved, and what you can use it for.  You will have the framework to get rid of anxiety and know how to use your brain in a whole new way that does not use anxiety as a response to problems.

If I'm not anxious, will I still care about what is happening?

Many people believe that worry is caring.  I disagree. Worry actually has more in common with cursing as both worry and cursing are when you imagine bad things happening either to yourself or others.  Caring and compassion don't hurt. Unlike worry and anxiety, caring does not drain your energy so you have more to give to whoever needs you.

Is the technique described in your book hard to learn?

The four steps in the LAF technique are very simple.  Also, like anything, the more you use them, the easier it gets.  After a while when anxiety shows up, your brain will automatically apply the steps and the anxiety won't have a chance to interrupt what you are doing.
